Ramirez Powers 'Wolves To Victory

The SeaWolves won their fourth consecutive game on Tuesday night with a 7-4 victory over the Akron Aeros at Canal Park.

The SeaWolves struck first in the top of the first inning. With two outs Wilkin Ramirez doubled with two outs against Akron starter Ryan Edell. Max St. Pierre doubled home Ramirez for a 1-0 Erie lead. On the play, St. Pierre advanced to third on an error. He then scored on a Jeff Frazier double for a 2-0 lead.

The ‘Wolves would go up 4-0 in the top of the third inning. Danny Worth doubled with one out and Ramirez stepped in and clubbed his fifth home run of the season.

The Aeros would strike back in the bottom of the fourth. After starter Luke French retired the first two batters of the inning, Chris Gimenez reached on an error to keep the inning alive. Ryan Goleski singled to put a pair on for Nathan Panther. Panther singled home Gimenez to make it a 4-1 game. Brandon Chaves singled to put a pair on for Jose Constanza. Constanza reached on the second error of the inning and on the play Goleski scored from third to make it 4-2. With the bases loaded, Josh Rodriguez drew a walk to make it 4-3.

In the top of the fifth inning with one out, Ramirez stepped in and sent a rocket over the wall in left to make it 5-3. Ramirez, the team leader with six home runs, has hit three long balls in the last two games.

The Aeros got a run closer in the bottom of the sixth when Rodriguez lined a ball off of reliever Marcelo Perez, scoring Panther, making it 5-4.

The score would remain the same until the top of the ninth inning. Ryan Roberson led off and doubled down the left field line for his third hit in the game. Kody Kirkland laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Roberson to third. With two outs, Worth lined a single to right, scoring pinch runner Deik Scram to make it 6-4. St. Pierre doubled home Worth to give Erie a three-run lead at 7-4.

Freddy Dolsi came into the game in the bottom of the ninth and tossed a scoreless inning to pick up his second save in as many opportunities.

Perez (1-0) tossed two innings, allowing a run with two walks and no strikeouts.

The ‘Wolves have also won three straight road games and remain a game behind Harrisburg in second place in the Southern Division.
