Curve drop fourth straight, 6-2 to Harrisburg

ALTOONA - The Curve dropped a season-high fourth straight contest, falling to the first-place Harrisburg Senators by the final score of 6-2 on Tuesday night at Blair County Ballpark.

Melvin Dorta accounted for half of Altoona's hits with a 4-for-4 night and scored both Curve runs. Brad Corley knocked in Dorta in the fourth with a double, while Jonel Pacheco's RBI groundout in the eighth plated Dorta with for the Curve's second run.

Yoslan Herrera (0-1) started for Altoona and settled down after giving up three runs through the first two innings. The right-hander went on to toss four frames and punch out six Harrisburg batters, which matches his career-high.

Harrisburg scored twice in the first off Herrera, and added another in the top of the second before scoring a single run off reliever Dave Davidson in the seventh to take 4-2 lead.

Kyle Pearson, recently called up from Lynchburg (A) made his Double-A debut on Tuesday, and pitched two innings, giving up a pair of runs. Both runs came on one swing, thanks to a two-run home run from Luis Jimenez. Jimenez finished the night with three RBI.

The Curve will look to grab the second game of the series on Wednesday morning at 10:35 a.m., as right-hander Josh Hill (2-1, 2.91) takes the mound against Harrisburg righty Tristan Crawford (0-0, 18.00). Wednesday is a Giant Eagle Advantage Card Wednesday. When presenting an Advantage Card at the BCB ticket window, fans who buy one UPMC Health Plan Home Run Junction ticket (outfield reserve) will get a second one free.
