
RailRiders Roll Past Bats

Moosic, Pa. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) got a dominant effort from both sides of the plate in an 8-1 win over the Louisville Bats on Wednesday night at PNC Field. The RailRiders (43-31) pad their lead to 5.5 games in the IL North Division. The Bats slips to 35-38.
RailRiders pitching retired the final 15 hitters to end the game and 22-for-23 overall. Right-hander Jordan Foley shined in his first Triple-A start. Just arrived from Single-A Charleston, Foley limited Louisville to a run on three hits across four innings. He sat down 11 of the last 14 hitters he faced. Joel De La Cruz (5-0) earned the win with four perfect innings in relief. James Pazos tossed the ninth without a blemish.
Keyvius Sampson (1-1) shouldered the loss after allowing three runs on five hits, including a season-high five walks, over three innings.
After allowing a run in the first inning, the RailRiders scored eight unanswered to finish the game. Ben Gamel and Cole Figueroa posted solid nights at the plate with three hits apiece. Figueroa clubbed his first triple of the season off the right-field wall to score Gamel for 2-1 lead in the second. Gamel tallied two RBI.
Juan Graterol pushed the lead to 4-1 in the third thanks to a two-run single. Nick Noonan helped the cause with a pair of doubles, one plating Tyler Austin in the fifth to pad the score at 5-1. Austin finished with two hits in his return from the disabled list.
Rob Refsnyder boosted his on-base percentage .358 by reaching safely five times. Refsnyder walked thrice, reached on a hit-by-pitch and had an infield single in the sixth.
The boys of SWB go for their fifth straight series win on Thursday night. First pitch against the Louisville Bats (Cincinnati Reds) is set for 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Jaron Long (5-4, 4.04) gets the nod against southpaw David Holmberg (3-5, 4.89). The first 2,500 fans in attendance for the RaiRiders game on Saturday, June 27, against the Buffalo Bisons will receive a Rob Refsnyder bobblehead, presented by Keystone Sanitary Landfill.
