(SYRACUSE, NY) - Jason Coats came through with a two-RBI double in the top of the tenth inning to break a scoreless tie and give the Charlotte Knights a 2-0 victory over the Syracuse Chiefs on Wednesday night. The shutout was the seventh for the Knights pitching staff this season.

Terance Marin shined again in his third start - fourth appearance - as a Charlotte Knight, spinning seven scoreless innings of five-hit baseball. The Modesto, California native now has 22.0 consecutive scoreless innings to begin his Triple-A career.

Knights reliever Matt Lindstrom was able to add to his scoreless streak as well, replacing Marin to being the eighth inning and hurling two innings of two-hit ball. The 35-year-old righty would earn his second win of the season, and has not allowed a run in his last eight games - a span of 10.2 innings pitched.

After being held scoreless for sixteen consecutive innings over the past two games, the Knights offense came through in the top of the tenth inning on Wednesday night to score a pair of runs. Tyler Colvin led-off the frame with his tenth double of the season, and after Tyler Saladino drew a one-out walk, Coats came through with the big two-run double. The pair of RBI gave Coats 40 for the season, one behind Matt Davidson for the team lead.

Maikel Cleto would enter the game in the bottom of the tenth inning and record the final three outs to seal the Knights first win of the series and earn his third save of the season.

Wednesday night's game was the 72nd played by the Knights in 2015, marking the season's halfway point. Through 72 games, Charlotte's 41-31 record has them 1.0 game behind the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for the best record in the International League and 0.5 games ahead of the Norfolk Tides for first place in the South Division.

The Knights will earn a split of the current four-game set with a victory in Thursday night's finale. A win would also give the team a 4-3 season-series victory over the Chiefs. RHP Kyle Drabek is set to take the mound in the 7:05 p.m. matchup from NBT Bank Stadium, and you can catch all the action on the Knights flagship station, ESPN 730 AM.
