Toledo Mud Hens News Release

In a Wednesday matinée in Durham, the Mud Hens performed as if it were primetime. Thad Weber continued his dominant month of June on the bump by throwing six innings of one run ball for Toledo. On the Bulls' side, their starter Dylan Floro could not keep the Mud Hens' bats in check, and allowed seven runs. The game got interesting in the later innings, but Toledo was able to complete the 7-5 victory.

In the second inning, Jordan Lennerton got the Hens on the board with a solo shot to center field for his second home run of the season. In the third, Toledo opened up the floodgates on Durham. With two on and one out, Jefry Marte hit his second home run in as many days to give the Mud Hens a 4-0 lead. Marte is the first Mud Hen this season to reach double digits in the home run category.

The offense wasn't finished though, as they found a way to pile on three more runs for a six run third inning. Following Marte, Steven Moya and Tyler Collins both reached base via singles. Lennerton, looking to do more damage, smashed his second home run of the day to center field to put the Hens in front 7-0.

After Weber was done dealing through six innings, Jose Valdez came on for a dominant relief appearance. In his two innings, he struck out three Bulls' hitters. Alberto Cabrera came on to pitch the ninth, and allowed four runs to pull the score to 7-5. With two outs in the ninth, Guido Knudson, who's been extremely good since coming up from Double-A Erie, came on to strike out Corey Brown and finish off the Mud Hens a win.

The Mud Hens are back in Durham on Thursday for the rubber match of the three game series. First pitch against the Bulls is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
