
RailRiders Drop Red Wings, 5-4

(MOOSIC, PA) - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders took down the Rochester Red Wings 5-4 on Tuesday night. The RailRiders pitching staff combined to strikeout 15 and Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza drove in two runs apiece in the win.
Rochester got the first run of the game in the top of the second. With the bases loaded following a walk and a pair of singles, a groundout plated one for Rochester.
Three runs came across in the top of the third for the Red Wings. Jack Dunn drew a walk, stole a base and scored on a groundout. Later in the inning, with a runner on, Jacob Nottingham homered to make it 4-0.
The RailRiders cut the lead in half in the bottom of the frame. Carlos Narvaez and Jake Lamb singled and Oswaldo Cabrera walked to load the bases. Narvaez scored on an Oswald Peraza sac fly and Everson Pereira batted in Lamb to make it 4-2 Rochester.
Peraza doubled to reach in the bottom of the seventh and raced home on another RBI single from Pereira. With Pereira on first, a pair of walks loaded the bases and a wild pitch scored him to even the game up at four apiece.
In the bottom of the eighth, Lamb led off with a base hit. Brandon Lockridge came in to pinch run and immediately stole second and third. A Peraza RBI single scored Lockridge and gave the RailRiders a late 5-4 lead that they'd hold onto for the win.
Edgar Barclay made his first Triple-A start for SWB going three innings, allowing four runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Zac Houston struck out all six batters he faced. Michael Gomez (W, 1-4) fanned five in three scoreless frames. Matt Bowman (S,4) posted a scoreless ninth.
Jackson Rutledge tossed five frames in the start for Rochester giving up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Joel Peguero (L, 0-2) got the loss allowing the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth.
