RailCats Continue Dominance over Milkmen
August 3, 2019 - American Association (AA)
Milwaukee Milkmen News Release
The Gary Railcats cannot do anything wrong against the Milkmen. In the first game of the series, the Milkmen were unable to deliver much needed base hit and fell to the Railcats by a score of 6-1.
In the first inning, the Milkmen appeared ready to put a score on the board with Garrett Copeland and Manny Boscan getting singles followed by a walk to Riley Pittman. With the bases loaded and the strength of the line up coming up, the Railcats were able to strike out Dan Ward and Jose Rosario to end the inning. The same scenario took place in the third with Copeland and Boscan getting singles again but were only able to score one run.
Leading the way offensively were Garrett Copeland with three hits and Manny Boscan with two. That was basically the offense of the Milkmen as the other hits were a topper down the third base line by Rosario and a bunt single by Dexter.
A very strong pitching performance by Joey Wagman allowed the Milkmen to stay close to the Railcats. Wagman went six (6) innings giving up 3 runs with only 2 being earned. Tanner Kiest came in the game to start the 7th and ran into some tough luck. A basehit and error to the first hitter was followed by a flyout to right field and a ground out leaving a runner on 3rd with two outs. However, Kiest walked the next two hitters followed by a wild pitch and single giving the Railcats a 6-1 lead which was the final score. Colby Morris relieved Kiest and got the final out in the 7th and threw a scoreless 8th. Morris was picked up following his release by the Railcats.
The Milkmen continue this road trip with a game at 6:10 tonight and a 2:10 game on Sunday. Thanks for your interest and continued support of the Milwaukee Milkmen.
