Dogs Mash Six Homers in Blowout Win over Saints

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Chicago Dogs launched six home runs en route to a complete-effort 15-2 victory over the St. Paul Saints on Saturday night at Impact Field.

The Dogs offense fired on all cylinders, receiving homers from David Olmedo-Barrera, Victor Roache, Keon Barnum, Jordan Dean and Trey Vavra.

On the mound, D.J. Snelten (W, 5-3) was nearly as impressive with two runs - one earned - allowed on eight hits to go with five strikeouts over seven strong innings.

St. Paul got on the board first, courtesy of a two-run single by Josh Allen.

David Olmedo-Barrera answered right back for Chicago with a leadoff homer to left field, his seventh of the year, to make it a 2-1 ballgame.

Roache launched the go-ahead three-run bomb in the bottom of the third to put the Dogs ahead, 4-2.

Chicago kept the good times rolling into the fourth. After Olmedo-Barrera doubled with two outs, Edwin Arroyo singled him home to push the Dogs' lead to three. On the next at-bat, Barnum destroyed a two-run blast that bounced off of the parking structure beyond right field, increasing Chicago's lead to 7-2.

The Dogs continued their offensive barrage in the sixth with two more homers. Roache swatted his second long ball of the game, and third in two games, to plate two more runs. Following a Kelly Dugan single, Dean clubbed a two-run blast to boost the lead to 11-2.

In the seventh, Gustavo Pierre tripled and came around to score when Tony Rosselli reached on an error by Saints right fielder Michael Lang. Three batters later, Roache roped an RBI single to put Chicago ahead 13-2.

After Harrison Smith hurled a scoreless top of the eighth inning, Vavra completed the Dogs' onslaught with a two-run homer, the team's sixth of the night.

Justin Goosen-Brown tossed a perfect 9th to wrap up the victory.

LHP Jake Dahlberg will start the series finale tomorrow with first pitch set for 3:05 PM as the Dogs vie for a sweep.
