Raiders Comeback to Spoil Spongebob Night

BRANDON M.B. - The Prince Albert Raiders comeback to defeat the Brandon Wheat Kings by a score of 4-3 Monday afternoon.

It was the Raiders that opened the scoring in the first period with Niall Crocker redirecting a Landon Kosier shot to make it 1-0 Raiders at the midway mark of the 1st period. Only 65 seconds later the Wheat Kings would generate a turnover allowing Nolan Ritchie to score on a breakaway to tie it up at 1.

In the second period the Wheat Kings would get their first lead of the game with Dawson Pasternak scoring off a Nolan Ritchie shot which went off the boards off the back of Chaika and in to make it 2-1. The Raiders answered back a minute and a half later with Evan Herman scoring in his 200th career game to tie it back up at 2. Then during another Wheat Kings powerplay Luke Shipley would thread the needle with a wrist shot from the point to make it 3-2 Wheat Kings heading into the third period.

The third period was back and fourth until a Charlie Elick turnover would go off his stick right to Even Herman in the slot allowing Herman to tie it up at 3 and force overtime.

In OT it was Manitoba native Sloan Stanick scoring early in the extra frame with a between the legs goal to give the Raiders a 4-3 victory.

The Wheat Kings are back in action Friday night when they host Connor Bedard and the Regina Pats. Puck drop 7:00pm from Westoba Place in Brandon.
