Broomfield, CO 1/3/08 - The Amarillo Gorillas were beat by the Rocky Mountain Rage 3-1 on Thursday night, marking their third loss to the Rage so far this season. Amarillo could not overcome two third period goals by the Rage, and was handed their 17th loss of the season.
Amarillo's lone tally was scored by defenseman Trevor Read, whose first goal of the year put the Gorillas up 1-0 at 8:49 of the first period. Rocky Mountain would answer back quickly however, with a goal from Damien Rycroft at 9:05 to pull the Rage even.
The second period was scoreless, as goaltenders Dan Bauer and Guy St. Vincent made 11 and 9 saves respectively for their clubs.
In the third, the Rage would take their first lead of the game as Nathan Rosychuk scored at 1:52 to make it a 2-1 Rocky advantage. Brett Cullaton would add a goal at 10:34 to seal the deal for the Rage.
Amarillo heads home for a pair of games this weekend taking on the Odessa Jackalopes tomorrow night at the Amarillo Civic Center, and then the Arizona Sundogs on Saturday night at home as well.
