LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League will look to start 2008 the way they ended 2007- extending their winning streak. The Bucks will take on the Mississippi Riverkings tonight as they look to win their sixth straight game, and eighth out of their last nine. Game time is 7pm.

The Bucks tangle with the Riverkings tonight for the first time since they changed their name to Mississippi for this season.
Laredo enters the game fresh off of a 6-2 New Year's Eve win over Rio Grande Valley at the LEC, to extend their winning streak to five.
Rane Carnegie scored two goals and handed out an assist to lead the Bucks, while Kevin Beech stopped 12 of 14 Bees shots in net to imrpove his record to 9-1-1.
With two assists in the win Monday Jeff Bes remains tied for the CHL scoring lead with 47 points (19-28=47).
James Hiebert has 33 points in 27 games played, and has passed his point total from last season already. Last season Hiebert put up 32 points playing for four different teams (Reading Royals-ECHL, Manchester Monarchs-AHL, Phoenix Roadrunners-ECHL, Bucks).
In the Bucks last three games Hiebert has scored three goals, with five assists for eight points.
Mississippi comes in to tonight's game having lost two straight games, both to division foe Youngstown last weekend. The Riverkings lost the division lead to the Steelhounds, by falling 6-3 and 3-2. Aaron Davis and Ryan Campbell each scored a goal and handed out an assist in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Youngstown.
Campbell leads the Riverkings in scoring with 30 points (10-20=30). Veteran Derek Landmesser will be making his sixth straight CHL all-star appearance this season. Landmesser has scored four goals, and handed out 16 assists fo 20 points.
The Riverkings all-star goaltender Sebastien Centomo has played the bulk of the minutes in net this season, posting a 12-6-1 record with three shutouts. Centomo owns a 2.28 goals against average, and a .920 save percentage.
The Bucks are in Rio Grande Valley on Friday before hosting the Colorado Eagles on Sunday at the LEC.

* The Bucks are 13-3 at home this season, tying them with Colorado for the most home wins in the league
* So far this season the Bucks are 10-0-2 when leading after the first period, and 16-1-1 when leading after two periods. However, when the Bucks trail after one, they are 2-4, and when they trail after two periods they are 2-6.
* The Bucks are 5-0 all-time when playing their first game in a new calendar year, including a 4-0 mark at home.
