Rage Retain Top Spot in CHL Coaches Poll
January 3, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage begin 2008 right where they left off in 2007, atop the Central Hockey League Coaches Poll with a record of 20-4-2 and the league's highest winning percentage (.808). Rocky Mountain made its debut as the top-rated club in the CHL according to the coaches in mid-December and increased its lead over second place to 20 points in the latest poll released today by the league. Complete poll results are listed below.
The Rage welcome the Amarillo Gorillas to Broomfield Event Center tonight at 7:05 p.m., looking to extend their current six-point lead in the Northwest Division over the idle Colorado Eagles. The club is coming off a 6-5 shootout win over the Tulsa Oilers on Dec. 29, a game they trailed, 5-0, entering the third period. The five-goal rally is the largest third-period comeback in the CHL in more than a decade.
Tickets for tonight's clash with the Gorillas are on sale now with prices ranging from $18-$43 per seat (parking included). Fans can purchase tickets at Broomfield Event Center's box office or through Ticketmaster by logging-on to www.Ticketmaster.com, calling (303) 830-TIXS, or visiting any Ticketmaster retail outlet. Season tickets, mini-packs, and group plans are also still available by calling 303-439-RAGE.

The Laredo Bucks moved up from #4 to #2, and the Youngstown SteelHounds dropped from #2 to #3. The biggest jump in the poll came from the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, who moved from #9 to #5. No team dropped out of the poll. Five different teams received first place votes (Rocky Mountain, Laredo, Youngstown, Bossier-Shreveport and Mississippi), the most of any poll this season.
The Rage are 20-4-2 and own the CHL's highest winning percentage (.808). The Bucks own the most wins in the CHL (23) and have the highest winning percentage in the Southern Conference (.750). The big move from the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs comes as a result of their current eight-game win streak. The four division leaders are the Rage (NW), the SteelHounds and Mudbugs (NE), the Sundogs and the Jackalopes (SW), and the Bucks (SE).
The Rage will host the 2008 CHL All-Star festivities on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 15 and 16, at Broomfield Event Center. The All-Star Banquet, which is open to the public, will be held on the 15th. The banquet features the introduction of the two All-Star Teams plus a performance by Denver resident and 2005 Last Comic Standing winner Josh Blue. The All-Star Game will be played on the 16th, when the Northern and Southern Conferences will square-off in a battle for supremacy between the most talented players in the league.
