It's a Mudbugs Hockey Weekend

Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release


This week the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will play back-to-back home games on a Friday and Saturday night for the first time this season. Friday night your red-hot 'Bugs will take on the Oklahoma City Blazers at CenturyTel Center, followed by a Saturday night match-up with the Mississippi RiverKings.

Friday night is Shreveport Tractor night at the CenturyTel Center , featuring Shreveport Tractor t-shirts and Frisbees being thrown into the crowd at intermission. The Mudbugs will try to extend their streaks of eight consecutive wins and 12 straight home wins against Oklahoma City . Bossier-Shreveport is 2-0 against the Blazers this season after a 5-2 victory on December 4th and a 2-0 triumph on December 21st.

Saturday night when Bossier-Shreveport plays host to Mississippi , we will also be hosting our Education Night festivities. The Mudbugs have partnered with schools throughout the Ark-La-Tex to bring groups of students to CenturyTel Center for the game. Kids will be able to bring books to the game to donate or trade with other readers of all ages at Claude's Library. The first 1,000 kids in the doors on Saturday will also receive special Mudbugs youth jerseys courtesy of Reeves Marine. On the ice, the game will feature an important divisional game between two rivals right at the top of the standings in the Northeast. The Mudbugs and RiverKings have already met six times this season, with another six to come before the regular season concludes.

Bossier-Shreveport is the hottest team in the CHL with victories in 18 of their last 22 games. In the latest edition of the CHL Coaches poll, which was released on Thursday, the coaches voted Bossier-Shreveport as the 5th best team in the CHL. The Mudbugs received two first place votes in the poll and finished behind only Rocky Mountain , Laredo, Youngstown and Arizona .

Don't miss the action at CenturyTel Center as the Mudbugs try to take over sole possession of first place in the Northeast Division on Friday and Saturday. The three-game homestand will run through Tuesday, when the Mudbugs host Youngstown in their last home game until January 26th. The team will be embarking on a season-high seven game road swing after Tuesday's tilt with the SteelHounds.
