Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, SC - April Hitter of the Month and Greenville Drive Offensive standout Ceddanne Rafaela hit for the cycle in tonight's game against the Hickory Crawdads. Rafaela went in order by hitting a single in the first, a double in the third, a triple in the seventh, and a home run in the eighth. The cherry on top of the great achievement was him hitting the homerun over the Green Monster.
This great effort helped the Drive defeat Hickory 11-6 for the first game in a six-game homestand.
Starting pitcher for Greenville, Yusniel Padron-Atiles tossed five innings to secure the win over the losing pitcher Tekoah Roby.
The Drive had a quick start in the first inning after Matthew Lugo doubled on a line drive resulting in runs from Tyler McDonough, Ceddanne Rafaela, and Alex Binelas.
Evan Carter from Hickory attempted to catch up to Greenville with a homer at the top of the third inning. Trevor Hauver, also from Hickory, joined in with a homerun at the top of the fourth inning tying the score three to three.
Home runs were not scarce with the Drive as two players hit bombs out of the park. Alex Binelas hit a dinger at the bottom of the fifth sending Nick Yorke home, and Joe Davis launched another at the bottom of the sixth making the score 6-3.
The seventh inning consisted of three runs, one due to Ceddanne Rafaela's triple bringing home Tyler McDonough. Rafaela found home thanks to Matthew Lugo and Tyler Esplin batted in Matthew Lugo for the third run of the frame.
Hickory chipped away at the lead in the top of the eighth by adding one run to the scoreboard due to Trevor Hauver bringing Evan Carter home. The Drive answered with back-to-back home runs from McDonough and Rafaela. The Crawdads gave one last rally in the ninth putting two runs on the board, but it was not enough.
The series continues in Greenville tomorrow at 7:05.
