San Antonio Missions News Release

Gabriel Quintana's walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth lifted San Antonio to a 2-1 win over Arkansas Wednesday night at Wolff Stadium.

The Travs were the first to score Wednesday, plating a run in the second against right-hander Michael Kelly on Bo Way's sacrifice double play.

It was the only run allowed by Kelly, who limited Arkansas to just two hits and no walks, while punching out six over five strong innings.

After Kelly departed, his offense tied the game at one in the bottom of the fifth against righty Jordan Kipper when Quintana followed a leadoff River Stevens single with a double to left center.

San Antonio was in good hands after Kelly as talented right-hander Walker Lockett followed in a piggy back outing. Lockett (3-1) did not allow a run or a walk in his four innings and fanned four of his own to give the Missions another double-digit strikeout game.

The stellar pitching gave the offense plenty of chances to succeed. Finally, in the bottom of the ninth, they did just that.

San Antonio put runners on first and third with just one out for Stevens against Eric Alonzo (0-1). Arkansas went to Edward Paredes to face Stevens and the lefty did his job by getting the strikeout. Then the Travs went to the pen once again, signaling for right-hander D.J. Johnson to face Quintana. That move was not as successful as Quintana ripped Johnson's 1-2 pitch into left field to score Josh Van Meter and complete San Antonio's season-high, tying fifth straight win. It was also the club's ninth walk-off victory of 2016 and the second for Quintana. Five of the walk-off wins have come in the last two homestands.

San Antonio (24-22, 46-70) wraps up its series with Arkansas (22-23, 54-61) Thursday on Cricket Dollar Night presented by News 4 San Antonio and Cox Media Group. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Right-hander Kyle Lloyd (6-4, 3.73) will get the ball in Thursday's finale, while the Travs counter with southpaw Chris O'Grady (3-1, 3.56).
