Quenneville Agrees to Entry-Level Deal

WILKES-BARRE, Penn. - The New York Islanders announced today that defenseman David Quenneville has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level deal.

Quenneville, 20, led all Western Hockey League defensemen in goals (26) and points (80) this season, during his fourth full year with the Medicine Hat Tigers. Quenneville added eight points (one goal, seven assists) in six 2018 WHL Playoff games.

The Edmonton, Alberta native and Tigers alternate captain scored 214 points (69 goals, 145 assists) in 251 career games, becoming the highest scoring defenseman in Medicine Hat franchise history.

The Islanders drafted Quenneville in the seventh round (200th overall) of the 2016 National Hockey League Draft.

On the international stage, Quenneville represented Canada at the 2016 Under-18 World Junior Championships (Grand Forks, ND), where he led all tournament defensemen in goals (5) and was named to the WJC All-Star Team.

Quenneville is related by marriage to current Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk.
