Game Day Build-Up: Senators at Americans
Published on April 6, 2018 under American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release
The set-up
The Belleville Senators make a quick trip down south as they will battle the Rochester Americans for the penultimate time this season.
Belleville (26-40-2-3) dropped a 2-1 decision to Springfield Wednesday but still remains in a three-way tie with Laval and Binghamton for fifth place in the North Division.
Rochester (34-20-11-6) sit in a tie for third in the North Division with a playoff spot already secured. While they cannot catch Toronto for the division title, they can still mathematically finish second.
Roster notes
No new additions for the Senators after Alex Formenton and Andrew Sturtz each made their Sens debuts Wednesday.
Either Filip Gustavsson or Marcus Hogberg is expected to start for the Senators as Danny Taylor remains with Ottawa.
Kyle Flanagan, Mike Blunden, Jim O'Brien, Ben Sexton and Francis Perron are out while Tyler Randell, Ethan Werek, Eric Selleck and Ville Pokka did not travel.
Previous history
Belleville holds a winning record over the Americans this year as they are 3-2-1-0 in six contests this season. The Sens won 2-0 in their last meeting on Feb. 7 thanks to a Danny Taylor shutout.
Who to watch
Nick Paul has been playing a point-per-game pace the past three contests and has six points in his previous seven games. Paul has 11 goals and 24 points in 50 games this season.
Americans forward Colin Blackwell has been finding the scoresheet with regularity over the previous 10 games as he's tallied 17 points, including eight goals. Blackwell, in his second year with Rochester, has 40 points in 56 games this year.
Where to watch
Friday's game starts at 7pm and can be seen live on www.theahl.com through their AHL Live application (subscription required) or at Shoeless Joe's in Belleville.
The radio broadcast on CJBQ 800 begins at 6:50pm with Jack Miller on the call.
