
Providence Bruins Fall to Wolf Pack 8-0

Providence, RI -- The Providence Bruins dropped their first pre-season game of 2005 to the Hartford Wolf Pack this evening 8-0 at the Bradford R. Boss Arena in Kingston, Rhode Island. Hartford scored four times in each the second and third period.
After the first period of play the game was scoreless with both goalies turning in strong performances. Mike Ayers stopped seven shots for Providence, while Bernd Bruckler stopped 13 shots for Hartford.
The Wolf Pack started the scoring early in the second when Bruce Graham scored only 2:05 into the period. Hartford followed that goal up with three more in the period from Ryan Callahan, Jakub Petruzalek and Bryan Rodney. Bruckler was pulled halfway through the second period, while Ayers was pulled following the second. Robert Gherson took over in net for Hartford stopping all 14 shots he faced.
In the third period, the Wolf Pack scored four more times on goals by Rob Flynn, Hugh Jessiman, Graham and Petruzalek for the 8-0 victory. The Wolf Pack had two power play goals, one short handed and another 4-on-4. Mike Brown played the third period for Providence and made four saves.
The Bruins return to action Friday night, when they take on the Springfield Falcons at the MassMutual Center, a 7:30 p.m. start. Providence returns home Sunday to face the Portland Pirates at the Bridgewater Ice Arena in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Game starts at 5:00 p.m. and for ticket information please call (508) 279-0600.
Head coach Scott Gordon and his club kick off the regular season on Friday, October 14 at 7:05 p.m. against the Portland Pirates at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence.
