
Nolan, Bernakevitch sign with Monarchs

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have agreed to terms on one-year contracts with defenseman Doug Nolan and forward Brendan Bernakevitch, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced. Nolan, 29, appeared in 60 games with the Monarchs last season and collected six points (1-5=6) and 167 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of Quincy, Massachusetts, has spent time in a Monarchs uniform over the last three years (2002-05), recording 11 points (2-9=11) and 203 penalty minutes in 119 games.
Bernakevitch, 23, played in 41 games during his senior year at Harvard University and collected 18 points (5-8=13) and 12 penalty minutes in the 2004-05 season. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan, collected 65 points (24-41=65) and 38 penalty minutes in 116 games for Harvard over the last four years (2001-2005).
The Monarchs intra-squad game at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday, October 1, will be open to the public and free of charge. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and the game starts at 11 a.m.
