Prospects Headed to Youth Olympics

Three Moose Jaw Warriors prospects have been named to teams for the upcoming 2016 Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway. Defenseman Jett Woo and forward Luka Burzan have been named to Canada's roster, while forward Erik Middendorf has been named to the United States roster.

Woo was drafted 4th overall by the Warriors in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Last season with the Winnipeg Bantam AAA Warriors he had 10 goals, 27 assists, and 37 points in 31 games and finished 10th in Bantam 1 East regular season scoring. He was a part of team Manitoba at the 2015 Canada Winter Games and represented his province again at the 2015 Western Canada Challenge cup. This season Woo is playing Midget AAA with the Winnipeg Wild and through 16 games had six goals and 22 points.

Burzan was drafted 6th overall in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft, in 62 games last season with the North Shore Winter Hawks he had 80 goals and 131 points. Burzan led North Short to a gold medal at the 2015 Western Canada Bantam Championships where he was named Most Valuable Player, and he was a part of Team BC at the 2015 Western Canada Challenge Cup. This season Burzan is playing BC Major Midget with the Valley West Hawks and through 23 games has 13 goals and 41 points.

Middendorf was drafted in the fourth round, 66th overall, at the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Last season with the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes he had 14 goals and 24 points in 15 games. This season Middendorf is playing with the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League and through 27 games has 12 goals and 22 points.

The 2016 Youth Olympic Games are February 12th to 21st in Lillehammer, Norway. The men's hockey tournament features five countries (Canada, Finland, Norway, Russian & the United States) who will play in a round-robin format before semi-finals and the gold-medal game.
