The Boeing Company Airplane Toss, Daylight Classic Highlight Weekend

January 14, 2016 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Portland Winterhawks News Release

The Portland Winterhawks kick off a busy weekend Saturday, January 16, when they host the Saskatoon Blades in the Moda Center for The Boeing Company Airplane Toss.

Fans can pick up paper at the Moda Center entrances, and along the concourse, to make one paper airplane per person to fly during the Airplane Toss. After the game, there will be targets on the ice for a variety of prizes, and the paper airplane landing closest to the target will win that prize. This year's grand prize is a week-long houseboat vacation from Waterway Houseboats in British Columbia, Canada, while fans can also aim for prize packages from Standard TV & Appliance, Burgerville, and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Then, on Monday, January 18, the Hawks will host the Vancouver Giants in the second of three daylight games this season. The curtains will be open in the Veterans Memorial Coliseum to allow natural light into the arena bowl in a special 3 p.m. start on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

"Saturday's Boeing Company Airplane Toss provides a unique fun opportunity for Winterhawks fans to test their paper airplane skills to win a variety of prizes," said Portland Winterhawks President Doug Piper. "Monday's daylight game will give fans yet another chance to experience a game in a special open-air environment, capping off an exciting weekend of Winterhawks hockey."

Tickets can be purchased at winterhawks.com, the Winterhawks' ticket office inside Veterans Memorial Coliseum, at the Rose Quarter Box Office, and all TicketMaster outlets, including Fred Meyer.

Group tickets include free Winterhawks hats starting at only $18 each while ticket plans begin at $90 each and include free Winterhawks scarves. Email seats@winterhawks.com or call 503-236-HAWK to buy seats today.
