N. CHARLESTON, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays scored two first-period goals and held on to defeat the Florence Pride 3-0 Tuesday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.

South Carolina scored its first goal at the 5:05 mark of the opening period. Marty Clapton carried the puck across the Pride blue line, and his quick wrist shot beat Shawn Conschafter, making his Pride debut in net, to the glove side.

The Stingrays doubled their lead at 10:36. Boris Protsenko skated up the right-wing side, and his quick slap shot was stopped by Conschafter. But, the rebound came right to Mike Barrie in the left-wing circle, and his shot beat the Pride goaltender for his 14th of the season.

South Carolina's Robin Gomez finished the scoring, chipping a rebound over Conschafter's glove with 1:55 to go.
