Greensboro responded with two runs on a triple in the top of the third, but Willy Garcia hit a two run home run in the home half of the inning to push the Power ahead 3-2. Austin Barnes hit a solo home run off Rinku Singh to tie the game in the sixth. In the eight, Barnes scored on a balk by Emmanuel De Leon to push the Hoppers ahead for good. Eric Avilahad the only multi-hit game for the Power.

SQUASH YOU LATER: West Virginia meets Greensboro for the final time in the regular season when they battle tonight. The Grasshoppers clinched a playoff berth by winning the SAL Northern Division title in the first half of the 2012 season, so the Power and Hoppers would meet in playoffs if West Virginia wins the second half crown. The Power lead the all-time series with the Grasshoppers 61-44 dating back to 2005 and have a 32-20 record at Appalachian Power Park during the series.

DOUBLE DOWN: Dan Gamache hit his 35th double of the season in Tuesday's loss, putting the Power second basemen three two-base hits behind the Power single season doubles record. Caleb Gindl hit 38 doubles during the 2008 season. The all-time Charleston South Atlantic League record is 50, set by Jason LaRue during the 1997 season. Gamache's current tally puts him in a tie for eighth all-time in Charleston's 25 year history with the SAL.

CAREER HIGH K's: Rinku Singh struck out six over three innings on Tuesday to set a new career high. The southpaw's previous single game best was five strikeouts on July 22, 2011, while pitching for the GCL Pirates against the GCL Tigers.

HOME RUN RECORDS: Willy Garcia and Alen Hanson have each hit 16 home runs this season, placing the duo into a tie for sixth place in the Power record book. Mat Gamel and Andrew Lafave hold the 4th spot with 17. No Pirate prospect has hit more than Aaron Baker's 18 in 2010 (3rd in Power history).

JUST UNDER .500: In each year since the Power became a Pirates affiliate in 2009, the team has finished within one game of .500 at home. The 2009 team was 33-34, the 2010 club went 34-35, and last season's edition was 34-33. The 2012 edition is 28-29 at home with 12 left in Charleston this season.

FYI: Head-to-head matchup records are the first tie-breaker to determine the division champion in the event that second half records are even. The Power have beaten the BlueClaws in the season series, lost to the Suns and Hoppers, andcan still split the Crawdads.

STREAK NEWS: Francisco Diaz has hit safely in his last 11 games and is hitting .529 during this streak that began on July 13 with 18 hits in his last 34 at bats. Gregory Polanco's has hit safely in each of his last nine games. Jose Osuna's second inning double last night upped his current streak to six straight. This is Osuna's sixth streak of six or more games, most of any player on the team.

POWER POINTS: Power pitching coach Willie Glen left the club over the weekend to celebrate the birth of his first child. Pittsburgh has sent Rehab Coordinator Miguel Bonilla to Charleston to serve as the team's interim pitching coach while Glen is on paternity leave... Elias Diaz went 0-3 last night and saw his six game hitting streak snapped.
