Suns Settle for Two of Three from Crawdads, Drop Series Finale

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (70-50/28-23) settled for two-out-of-three against the Hickory Crawdads (64-57/28-24) after dropping the series finale 14-7 at Municipal Stadium on Wednesday night.

Suns reliever Ben Hawkins (3-3) suffered the loss as all five pitchers for Hagerstown allowed at least one earned run in the game. Adrian Nieto went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles at the plate while both Justin Miller and Cutter Dykstra each collected two RBIs.

Crawdads' reliever Victor Payano (6-7) earned the win with three scoreless innings on the mound while the Hickory offense pounded out 17 hits at the plate. Centerfielder Jordan Akins led the attack going 4-for-5 with a solo home run and four RBIs.

The Suns will now travel to Salisbury, MD and take on the Delmarva Shorebirds (Orioles) at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday night. Starting pitchers for both teams have yet to be announced.
