HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Hickory Crawdads slugged their way to the 14-7 blowout victory against the Hagerstown Suns, before 1,028 fans at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown on Wednesday night . CF Jordan Akins helped pace the 'Dads offense with four hits and four RBIs, while LF Zach Cone contributed three RBIs.

The Crawdads (28-24, 64-57) got out to a quick start, striking against RHP Taylor Hill in the top of the first inning. With one down, 2B Nick Urbanus drove a double to right-center field, before racing in on an RBI single by LF Zach Cone one out later, lifting Hickory to the 1-0 lead.

After the Suns (28-23, 70-50) tied it with an unearned run in the bottom of the second, Hickory swung right back in front in the top of the third. CF Jordan Akins led off the frame with a towering solo home run to left field. SS Luis Sardinas followed with a base hit, before darting home on an RBI double by RF Trever Adams one out later, making it 3-1.

Hagerstown again responded in the bottom of the third against LHP Andrew Faulkner. With two on and one away, 1B Justin Miller plated both runners on a two-run double, tying the game at 3-3.

The Crawdads raced in front yet again in the top of the fourth frame. 3B Drew Robinson started the stanza by hammering a solo home run over the right-field wall. One out later, 1B Kevin Torres doubled his way on, and Akins brought him in with an RBI single for the 5-3 lead.

The Suns, though, struck for three runs in the bottom of the fourth to leap frog the 'Dads on the scoreboard. After three walks loaded the bases with one away, 2B Cutter Dykstra drove an RBI single to right field that led to a fielding error on Adams, enabling the other two runners to score as well for the new 6-5 advantage.

Hickory battled it even with an RBI double by C Jorge Alfaro in the top of the sixth, and then blew the game open with five runs in the top of the seventh against LHP Ben Hawkins (L, 3-3) and RHP L.J. Hollins. Urbanus led off with a double, followed quickly by a base hit from Adams, chasing Hawkins from the hill. Cone welcomed Hollins to the game with a go-ahead, two-run triple to left-center field. After DH Alejandro Selen reached on an error, Robinson drove in Cone with an RBI fielder's choice that also led to an error, enabling both Selen and Robinson to be safe on the play. An Alfaro walk loaded the bases, and then Selen scored on a double play ball hit by Torres. Akins put the finishing touch on the big inning with another RBI single, stretching the lead to 11-6.

After an RBI double by Selen in the eighth, the Crawdads plated a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to make it an eight-run advantage. With Alfaro at third and one down, Akins came through with his third RBI single, and fourth total RBI, to plate Alfaro. Akins moved to second on an error, and then came home on an RBI fielder's choice by Urbanus, making it 14-6.

The Suns struck for one against RHP Coby Cowgill in the bottom of the ninth, but Cowgill escaped further damage and closed the 14-7 win for Hickory. LHP Victor Payano (W, 6-7) tossed three scoreless relief innings to earn the win for Hickory.
