POWER REPLAY: West Virginia lost 6-5 Wednesday at Kannapolis. The Power trailed 5-0 after three innings, but rallied to tie with a run in the sixth and four in the seventh, including a three run home run by Matt Curry with two outs. In the bottom of the seventh though, Dan Black singled in the winning run for the Intimidators off West Virginia reliever Kevin Decker.

DAY AND NIGHT: Wednesday's loss was the first during the daytime for the Power this year. West Virginia is now 3-1 during the daylight hours and 3-6 at night.

BULLISH PEN: West Virginia's bullpen as a collective whole is 2-3 with a 2.96 ERA over 51.2 innings of work this season. The relief staff has combined for 50 strikeouts compared to just six walks. Conversely, Power starting pitchers are 4-4 and have struck out 54 batters, but have a combined ERA of 6.02 after allowing 12 earned runs over the last two starts.

NOT TO BE INTIMIDATED: West Virginia and Kannapolis play the third game of this series tonight. The Intimidators lead the all-time series 35-29, but the Power have played well historically on the road at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. West Virginia is 14-17 all-time at Kannapolis since 2005.

BULLPEN ROULETTE: Ryan Beckman was transferred from the Power roster Tuesday and added to extended spring training. Zac Fuesser replaces Beckman in the bullpen. Fuesser began the season on the active roster, was transferred to the State College roster on Friday, and was promoted to fill the open spot. Fuesser has a record of 0-0 with a clean ERA of 0.00.

GAME ONE TROUBLES: West Virginia is playing its fourth series of the season, and has lost the opening game of each set. The Power lost to Savannah 8-0 on opening night, fell in the series opener against Asheville 3-1, dropped the initial game against Augusta 5-3, and lost 11-7 to Kannapolis on Tuesday.

PINPOINT CONTROL: West Virginia pitchers have combined to walk just 22 batters this season, by far the fewest in the league. Delmarva has played one more game than the Power, and has walked a league-high of 62 batters. Only one club across all of Minor League Baseball, Double-A New Britain, has combined to walk fewer batters (20) this season, though the Rock Cats have played one less game than West Virginia.

ROSTER RUNDOWN: The 2011 Power roster features 16 players drafted by Pittsburgh within the last two years, four players who saw South Atlantic League action in 2010 with the Power, and four ranked within Baseball America's top 25 for the entire Pirates organization. Rogelio Noris, Zach Foster, Jairo Marquez, and Andy Vasquez all saw action in 2010 with the Power. Zack Von Rosenberg rates ninth followed by Colton Cain (13), Zack Dodson (18), and Mel Rojas Jr. (23).

POWER POINTS: Power pitchers allowed as many earned runs in Tuesday's loss as they did during the entire series at Augusta. They also walked as many batters Tuesday as the did during the whole Augusta set... Matt Curry's .400 average ranks 3rd in the SAL but 34th across all of Minor League Baseball. Curry also leads the league with three triples.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh was shutout 6-0 at Florida for the second straight day... Indianapolis doubled up Toledo 4-2... Altoona edged Harrisburg 3-2... Bradenton lost 9-5 after Diego Moreno allowed a bottom of the ninth walk-off grand slam.
