
Gnats Hometown Heroes Day Is Saturday, April 23

Savannah, GA - This Saturday, April 23, the Savannah Sand Gnats will host their second annual Hometown Heroes Day, presented by the Hernandez Collision Center in conjunction with the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department (SCMPD), at Historic Grayson Stadium. Hometown Heroes Day is a free event that honors the work of law enforcement, first responders and military in our community, and entertains and educates fans with fun interactive displays, kids activities, free food and live entertainment.
Home Town Heroes Day will feature two helicopter landings, a military K-9 team demonstration, an SCMPD Mobile Field Force demonstration and vehicles, displays and activities from local police, fire and military units. Highlights include Southside Fire's Andy the Robot, SCMPD's Animal Control hosting an Adopt-a-thon, the American Red Cross hosting a blood drive, a US Army Command Post vehicle and seven different vehicles from the US Marine Corps.
The Sand Gnats will provide free lunch from 1PM - 3PM, with kids activities and live entertainment throughout the entire event. Every person who attends Hometown Heroes Day at Historic Grayson Stadium between 1PM - 3PM will receive a FREE ticket to that night's Savannah Sand Gnats game against the Lexington Legends at 6:05, compliments of Hernandez Collision Center. An expanded Fireworks display, presented by KIX 96, will follow the game.
