SATURDAY NIGHT SHUTOUT: West Virginia blanked Lakewood 4-0 on Saturday at FirstEnergy Park. Quinton Miller pitched the first five innings, allowing the only four BlueClaws hits of the game while striking out five. Zach Foster followed with three perfect innings, and Gabriel Alvarado finished the game with a hitless ninth. Aaron Baker drove in a pair with a double in the first and the Power added a two spot in the fourth.

JUST UNDER IN JULY: The Power finished July with a 14-15 record, roughly in the middle of the SAL pack for the month. Charleston and Lakewood held the league's best record at 18-12, while Hagerstown had the lowest winning percentage with a 10-18 mark. West Virginia hit .259 during the month, their best average in any month this season and their 23 home runs were second only to their June totals. The Power staff ERA was 4.67; slightly more than on run higher than May's season best 3.65 earned run average, but still slightly over a full run less than June's 5.65 ERA.

ERICKSON BATTLES BIRDS: Jason Erickson is 1-1 against Delmarva this season in three appearances, including two starts. His lone win against the Shorebirds was in a relief role just before entering the Power rotation, picking up the victory in an 8-4 West Virginia decision on May 16. As a starter against Delmarva, Erickson is 0-1 but holds a 2.53 ERA.

RUNNING WILD: Evan Chambers stole three bases Wednesday, setting a new single-game high by any Power player this season. On six different occasions, a West Virginia baserunner stole two bags in a game, but Chambers become the first player since Adenson Chourio swiped three bases on June 28, 2009 at Greensboro. David Rubinstein also stole a base on Wednesday, give the club a new single-game season best of four steals in any individual contest.

MORE MOVES: Kyle McPherson was activated from the disabled list on Friday, while Teddy Fallon sent back to the State College roster. McPherson spent a week on the DL with a blister problem on his right hand. Fallon has spent two stints on the Power roster this month, but has not appeared in a game yet. McPherson will start game two of this series against the Shorebirds.

WALK THIS WAY: Evan Chambers has walked 81 times this year to lead the South Atlantic League. Chambers is alone in fourth place across all of Minor League Baseball, trailing only Kila Ki'aihue of Omaha (88), Conner Crumbliss of Kane County (88), and Vincent Belnome from Lake Elsinore (82).

POWER POINTS: Jairo Marquez has a seven game hitting streak, having reached on a base hit in every Power game he has played in this season... Power hitters struck out 17 times on Saturday, setting a new single game high...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh lost 9-1 at St. Louis... Indianapolis lost 11-6 at Norfolk... Altoona beat Richmond 6-2... Bradenton did not play... State College trailed by six after four innings but came back to win 7-6 in 11 innings.
