Suns Drop Series Opener to Lexington

The Hagerstown Suns (12-25, 48-59) dropped 9-4 to the Lexington Legends (20-17, 55-52) at Municipal Stadium Monday night.

Lexington started putting tallies on the board in the second inning with Jacob Goebbert hitting a grounder to reach. Bringing in the first run of the game was Kody Hinze with a double. Hinze was brought in as the second run after Rene Garcia hit a sacrifice fly.

The Legends scored another run in the third after Jimmy Parades single with runners on first and third.

Hagerstown answered back after JP Ramirez hit a two run homer making the score 3-2.

In the sixth inning, Lexington scored four runs after Shane Erb replaced Suns starting pitcher Paul Demny.

The Suns tried chipping away at the Legends lead in the seventh with Rick Hague hitting a triple putting him in great scoring position with JP Ramirez up to bat. Ramirez cut the Legends lead 7-3 with a sacrifice fly.

In the eighth inning, Justino Cuevas hit a triple scoring Marcus Jones who previously reached by getting hit by a pitch.

Lexington closed the game in the ninth scoring two more runs with a key double by Kody Hinze.

The starting pitcher for the Suns Paul Demny (6-4) got the loss pitching through the fifth giving up four runs.

Jose Cisnero, the starting pitcher for the Legends got the win also pitching five innings giving up two runs and four strikeouts.

The Suns and Legends will play the second game of the four game series Tuesday night at Municipal Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
