MONDAY NO HOLIDAY: The Power lost 9-7 on Monday evening. West Virginia allowed eight runs in the second inning and could not overcome the deficit. The Power got two back in the fourth inning and tallied five against the Suns bullpen in the eighth. Jason Erickson took the loss after lasting just an inning and two thirds.

SUNS DIDN'T SETTLE: Hagerstown has taken seven of the ten nine meetings between the Power and Suns this season. During the recent four game series at Appalachian Power Park, the Suns amassed 70 hits in four games, and hold a season average of .364 over eight games against West Virginia. Comparatively speaking, the Power are batting .269 against Suns pitching. Hagerstown has only outscored 79-60 despite hitting nearly 100 points higher. The Suns have added 30 hits and 20 runs to those totals this series.

HOT RUN FOR HERNANDEZ: Jose Hernandez is batting .390 over his last 18 games, helping raise his average from .217 to .276. The Power outfielder has hit all seven of his home runs during that stretch, including three occasions when he homered in back-to-back game. Hernandez has driven in 13 during his last 16 games, compared to 12 during his first 35 2010 contests.

ROAD WARRIOR: David Rubinstein has reached base safely by hit or walk in his last 29 consecutive road contests, dating back to April 25 at Kannapolis, including two hits yesterday. This streak is the longest active road on-base streak in the league. The Power All-Star batted .377 during this recent 12-game run, the second longest hitting streak by a Power player this season.

WALK OF LIFE: Evan Chambers has walked 63 times this year to lead the South Atlantic League. Chambers ranks third across all of Minor League Baseball, trailing only Kila Ki'aihue of Omaha (74) and Conner Crumbliss of Kane County (70). Chambers on-base percentage from the leadoff spot is .407, while his overall OBP is .395, fourth best in the league.

LOOKING BACK TO LOOK AHEAD: During their first season as a Pirates affiliate, the Power went 27-43 during the first half of the season. The club hit .254 during the first 70 games and held a staff ERA of 4.66. West Virginia finished the '09 campaign with a .262 club average, a staff ERA of 4.18, and a 67-70 record for the year by going 40-27 in the second half. The 2010 edition of the Power hit .235 during the front half of the year, held a staff earned run average of 4.28, and finished 31-39.

POWER POINTS: Rogelio Noris has the fifth best home run to at bat ratio in the SAL with one home run ever 21 at bats. Justin Bass of Greensboro leads the league in long balls and has the best ratio (1/14.53 AB)... Phillip Irwin has struck out 41 and walked just eight over 36.2 innings pitched as a starter...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh did not play and opens a three game series at Houston tonight... Indianapolis lost both halves of a doublheader, falling 6-0 and 1-0... Altoona beat Binghamton 6-1... Bradenton did not play... State College lost 12-7 against Hudson Valley.
