
Suns Break Up No-Hitter in Ninth, but Lose 7-3

The Hagerstown Suns (5-8, 41-42) battled back in the ninth inning but it was not enough as they lost 7-3 to the West Virginia Power (4-9, 35-48) Tuesday night at Municipal Stadium.
The bats took forever to get going from either teams but West Virginia started it off in the sixth inning. With Aaron Baker on second reaching on a single and Jose Hernandez on first after being walked, Ramon Cabrera tripled to center driving in Baker and Hernandez. West Virginia made it 3-0 after Elevys Gonzalez drove in Cabrera with a double.
The Power scored another run in the top of the seventh as Aaron Baker hit a double bringing in Evan Chambers who reached on a single.
West Virginia kept the momentum in the eighth scoring three runs putting the score 7-0. A double to center from Evan Chambers was a big hit during the eighth.
Hagerstown bats woke up and took the momentum in the bottom of the ninth. After a pitching change by the Power, Jeff Kobernus reached on a single to left. Putting a mark on the board for the Suns was a triple by Francisco Soriano driving in Kobernus. With Soriano on third and two outs, first baseman Justin Bloxom hit a home run to right field giving the Suns one last chance. JP Ramirez hit a fly ball to center field ending the game 7-3.
The starting pitcher for the Suns Graham Hicks (1-1) got the win pitching five innings with seven strikeouts and giving up only one run. Coming in during the sixth was Kyle Morrison who pitched one innings giving up three runs. Wanel Vasquez came in during the eighth pitching one inning giving up three runs. Patrick Arnold came in during the top of the ninth giving up zero runs.
The starting pitcher for the Power Nathan Baker (6-5) got the win and almost accomplished a no hitter pitching eight innings with eight strikeouts. Gabriel Alvarado came in to close the game in the bottom of the eighth giving up three runs.
