The Power avoided being shutout for the eighth time when Ramon Cabrera scored on a passed ball with two outs in the ninth. Jason Erickson took the loss after surrendering the sixth inning runs, while Luis Noel Gained his third win of the year. David Rubinstein had two of the five Power base hits.

BULLPEN BOOST: After promoting Duke Welker to Bradenton earlier this week, the Pirates added Eliecer Navarro to the Power roster. The 22 year-old southpaw was signed by Pittsburgh as an international free agent in 2006 and has pitched in short season ball the last three years. Navarro was placed on the State College roster to begin 2010 and made three appearances for the Spikes since their season began on June 18. The lefty was 1-0 with a 1.04 ERA in those three appearances.
ROLLING ON THE ROAD: David Rubinstein has reached base safely by hit or walk in his last 27 consecutive road contests, dating back to April 25 at Kannapolis, including two hits yesterday. The Power All-Star saw his 12 game hitting streak snapped Tuesday with a 0-2 performance at the plate. Rubinstein batted .377 during this recent 12-game run, the second longest hitting streak by a Power player this season.
LOOKING BACK TO LOOK AHEAD: During their first season as a Pirates affiliate, the Power went 27-43 during the first half of the season. The club hit .254 during the first 70 games and held a staff ERA of 4.66. West Virginia finished the '09 campaign with a .262 club average, a staff ERA of 4.18, and a 67-70 record for the year by going 40-27 in the second half. The 2010 edition of the Power hit .235 during the front half of the year, held a staff earned run average of 4.28, and finished 31-39.
POWER POINTS: With five strikeouts Tuesday night, Kyle McPherson moved into fifth place on the SAL leaders list, trailing lead Brandon Moore by 20 K's... Despite ranking second in the league in hitting with a .329 average, David Rubinstein is only batting .260 at home this season. The outfielder also has the third highest average of any full season prospect within the Pirates organization. Jarek Cunningham has the highest home average on the team with a .286 average... Rogelio Noris has the fifth best home run to at bat ratio in the SAL with one home run ever 21 at bats. Justin Bass of Greensboro leads the league in long balls and has the best ratio (1/14.53 AB)... The Power held a staff ERA of 5.65 in June, two full runs higher than the staff's May earned run average.
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh beat Chicago 2-0 at Wrigley Field. Brad Lincoln earned his first Major League win with seventh shutout innings... Indianapolis lost at Columbus 7-3 for the second straight day... Altoona doubled up Binghamton 6-3... Bradenton did not play... State College lost 6-0 at Jamestown. The Spikes were held to two hits in the defeat.
ON THE AIR: All 140 West Virginia Power games can be heard on ESPN Radio 1490 AM in Charleston, WV, across the state on the Power Radio Network, and online at milb.com. Adam Marco will call the action for each of the 70 home games this season, while the home team will provide coverage while the Power are on the road.
