
Power End Stand with Win

The West Virginia Power closed an eight game home stand with a 4-1 win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers. The Power received great pitching from starter, Zac Fuesser and reliever, Kevin Decker on their way to victory.
The West Virginia Power jumped off to an early lead in the first inning. Andy Vasquez, Dan Grovatt and Chase Lyles hit three consecutive singles to load the bases. Mel Rojas Jr. lined a two run single into centerfield to score Vasquez and Grovatt giving the Power a 2-0 lead.
West Virginia boosted their lead to 3-0 in the second inning. Elias Diaz singled to centerfield and advanced to third on a single by Eric Avila. Diaz scored on a fielder's choice grounded into by Drew Maggi.
The Grasshoppers got on the scoreboard with a lone run in the top of the fourth inning. Marcell Ozuna drove the first pitch of the inning over the right centerfield wall for a solo home run and making the score 3-1.
The Power scored their fourth run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Rogelio Noris led off with a single to left field. Noris stole second base and then moved up to third on a ground out. Drew Maggi singled to centerfield driving in Noris giving the Power a 4-1 lead. The Power would need no further assistance as 4-1 would be the final score.
Zac Fuesser (3-4) picked up the win throwing a strong four innings in his start for West Virginia. Fuesser allowed just one run on seven hits and struck out one.
Kevin Decker collected his first save in two innings of work. Decker kept the 'Hoppers scoreless on one hit while striking out two Greensboro batters.
The West Virginia Power hit the road and travel to Lakewood to face the BlueClaws with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch scheduled for Friday evening. Ervis Manzanillo (7-5) will start for Lakewood to face the visiting West Virginia Power.
