Kannapolis Earns Series Split with 8-2 Win Over Legends

Kannapolis took a 4-0 lead after two innings and went on to defeat the Lexington Legends 8-2 Thursday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Kannapolis opened the scoring with two runs in the first. With one out, Carlos Sanchez and Marcus Semien singled. Center fielder Daniel Adamson bobbled Semien's hit for an error, allowing Sanchez to score, and Semien to advance to second. Dan Black singled, advancing Semien to third, from where he scored on a two-out single by Rangel Ravelo.

The Intimidators added two more runs in the second on a walk to Rafael Vera and a home run by Collin Kuhn.

Lexington got on the board in the fourth when Telvin Nash hit his 10th home run, a solo shot with one out.

The Legends added another run in the fifth. With two outs, Delino DeShields Jr. walked, advanced to second on a passed ball and to third on a wild pitch. After Ben Orloff walked, Mike Kvasnicka singled to score DeShields, cutting the Kannapolis lead to 4-2.

The Intimidators scored three more runs in the eighth. With one out, Black singled, and advanced to third on Trayce Thompson's double. Ravelo's single scored Black and Thompson. Leighton Pangilinan then grounded into a force out at second, but reached second when DeShields threw the ball past first while attempting to complete a double play. Dusty Harvard ran for Pangilinan, and Harvard scored on a single by Vera.

Kannapolis added its final run in the ninth. Keenyn Walker led off with a single, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Sanchez singled, moving Walker to third, and Walker scored when Semien grounded into a double play. Kannapolis starter Spencer Arroyo (8-7) went seven innings to get the win. Lexington starter Tanner Bushue (6-3) received the loss.

The Legends now travel to Greenville, South Carolina for a four game series beginning Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
