Lakewood Falls 4-2 to Delmarva

SALISBURY, MD- The Lakewood BlueClaws fell behind Delmarva 2-0 early, battled back to ties it at 2, but the Shorebirds won it with a 2-run 8th inning to salvage a split with the BlueClaws in the 4 game series. Lakewood concludes their 8 game road trip with a 4-4 record and split each of their 4 game series. The BlueClaws out hit Delmarva 8-3 in the game, but 4 costly errors allowed the Shorebirds to plate 4 runs on just their 3 hits.

BlueClaws 2B Carlos Alonso had himself a nice day at the plate as he was 3-4 with a double and both of Lakewood's RBI's to boost his average up to .276 on the year. SS Edgar Duran led off and went 2-4 as both of the BlueClaws middle infielders did their part offensively. Jim Murphy, Domingo Santana, and Maikel Franco all went 1-4.

Lisalberto Bonilla started for Lakewood and lasted only 4 innings. He allowed just 1 run and 2 hits, but he walked 5 batters to go along with his 5 strikeouts. Chase Johnson threw 3 scoreless innings in relief, before Jay Johnson (1-1) got tagged with the loss allowing 2 runs/1 earned on 2 hits in 1 inning of work.

Jake Cowan was making his season debut for Delmarva, and pitched well allowing just 1 run over 6 innings and getting a No Decision. Luis Noel got the win out of the bullpen (6-10), and David Walters got his 26th save of the year.

Lakewood will head home to host the West Virginia Power for a 4 game series beginning on Friday night. In the series opener Lakewood will start LHP Ervis Manzanillo (7-5, 4.92 ERA), and West Virginia will send out RHP Zach Von Rosenberg (4-8, 6.58 ERA). 7:05 pm for the First Pitch on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park.
