
Power Blank Shorebirds 3-0 in Series Opener

Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds (26-20) managed just three hits as the West Virginia Power (21-23) took game one of the series 3-0 on Wednesday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Shorebirds did not record a hit after the third inning.
The Power scored the first run in the second inning. Elias Diaz hit a two-out single. Then, he reached second a wild pitch and came all the way around to score on errors by Michael Ohlman and Mikey Planeta.
West Virginia added two more runs in eighth inning to increase the lead to 3-0. Diaz hit a two run single up the middle to score Matt Curry and Kaweki Emsley-Pie.
Power starter Brandon Cumpton earned his fifth straight win over 6.2 innings pitched. He fanned eight and walked just one. Shorebirds starter Tim Berry took the loss in five innings. He allowed only two hits and one unearned run.
Cameron Roth threw three innings of relief for the Shorebirds and surrendered four hits and two runs while Jason Gurka tossed a scoreless ninth inning.
