HICKORY, NC - The Hickory Crawdads notched their third shutout win of the season, 3-0, against the Charleston RiverDogs, before 1,441 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Wednesday night.

After RHP Matt Thompson (W, 2-2) started his outing with six strikeouts through three scoreless innings, the Crawdads (25-20)cracked the scoreless tie in the bottom of the third.

C Kelling Deglan led off with a walk against RHP Shane Greene (L, 2-4) and moved to second when Greene plunked SS Jurickson Profar one out later. DH Tomas Telis loaded the bases with a single to right field, before RF Josh Richmond belted a two-run double to left field, plating Deglan and Profar. 1B Andrew Clark reloaded the bases with a walk, and then 3B Christian Villanueva brought in Telis with a sacrifice fly to center, putting the Crawdads in front, 3-0.

Thompson continued to keep the RiverDogs (20-26) off the board through 5.1 innings, racking up seven strikeouts, before giving way to RHP Joe Van Meter. Van Meter tossed 2.2 frames of scoreless relief, followed by a 1-2-3 top of the ninth dealt by RHP Ryan Rodebaugh (S, 3) to close the 3-0 victory for the Crawdads.
