Florence Y'alls
Kalamazoo, Michigan: The Freedom had a chance last night to do something they haven't done in two series, take the advantage in the series. Florence did just that, defeating the Kings, 7-2.
A pitcher's duel was on going into the fifth, with the Kings leading 1-0. But that all was over when Trevor Hall smacked a two run homerun, his 17th of the season and second of the series. After five, the Freedom lead, 2-1. In the seventh, Florence got much needed insurance runs, on a Josh Sanchez RBI single. In the eighth, new lead-off hitter Scott Pickens smacked his fifth homer of the season, making it a 4-1 ballgame. In the ninth, with Matt Singer making his last at-bat before leaving for law school, he hit the ball about 30 feet, and all three runners on the base paths managed to score. An error on the King's pitcher and catcher cost them three more runs. Joel Posey (7-0) pitched beautiful, going seven innings, giving up only one run on the night.
Florence travels back into town tonight, returning to Champion Window Field for Liberty the Freedom Eagle bobblehead night tonight at 7:05, gates open at 5:45. The Freedom take on defending Frontier League champions, Rockford Riverhawks. The Freedom feature a three game set against the Riverhawks on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, before traveling to Evansville this upcoming week.
