Windy City ThunderBolts News Release

Crestwood, IL - Josh Glynn gunned 6 innings of shutout baseball and Jason Crosland scratched out 2 RBI as the ThunderBolts blanked the Ohio Valley Redcoats 3-zip at Hawkinson Ford Field Saturday night. The victory marked the third straight for Windy City overall and the 5th in 6 chances at home.

The Bolts loaded the bases with nobody out in the first thanks, in part, to a Jason Crosland RBI double. After Bolts jammed the path, though, Matt Ferrara flied out and Nick Ewen bounced into a double play against Redcoat starter Luke Adkins to retire the side.

The only time Ohio Valley placed more than one player on base in any frame occurred in the 4th. Jason Boyd walked, Nick Batkoski doubled and Travis Garcia was dealt a free pass by Glynn. After that, Jaziel Mendoza struck out. So did Jud Richards and finally Patrick Sadler to end the threat. Starting with Mendoza's at-bat and ending with a single in the 8th, Glynn and reliever Brandon Kellbach sent 12 straight batters packing.

Windy City's other two runs came across on a Nick Ewen double in the 4th and a sacrifice fly in the 5th off the bat of Jason Crosland. Kellbach sailed through 2 innings of scoreless relief and Lenny Bays chiseled out 2 strikeouts in a 1-2-3 9th inning. The teams combined for just 7 hits in the contest. The last time Glynn and Adkins met, the Bolts fell 8-zip on June 19th.

Tomorrow marks the 2nd of 3 with the Redcoats at Hawkinson Ford Field. Windy City will aim to tie a season-high 4-game win streak. Right-hander Scott Anderson takes to the bump for the Bolts. He threw an inning of 3-hit ball out of the bullpen in his first appearance as a ThunderBolt. That came against Ohio Valley in the first series between the pair. You can find every pitch starting at 5:05 on WJOB AM 1230 or www.wjobcalpress.com. Don't miss a chat with ThunderBolt skipper Brent Bowers on the pregame show starting at 4:45.
