Hawks get swept by Paints

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints used a six-run seventh inning to blow out the âHawks, 12-3, and complete the sweep.
Rockford starter Tanner Watson (1-2) loaded the bases with nobody out to begin the seventh. The next batter, John Ramistella, promptly cleared the bases with a three-run double. He then scored on a one-out single by Josh Ury to give the Paints a 9-3 lead. Scott Lefler put the icing on the cake with a two-run blast, his second of the series.
The âHawks tied the game at 3-3 in the third on Olmo Rosario's two-run homer, his fifth of the year and first in more than two months.
Chillicothe regained the lead in the fifth on three extra-base hits: a triple by Jose Rodriguez and run-scoring doubles by Brian Colopy and Juan Downing.
Paints' starter John Martinez (13-2) tied the Frontier League single-season record with his 13th win. He threw 8 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on nine hits.
The start of the game was delayed 60 minutes because of rain. Rosario was back in action for the first time since July 17th after resolving issues concerning his Visa.
Both teams were issued warnings after the benches and bullpens cleared after Kevin Crowley hit Juan Downing with a pitch in the eighth inning. Ryan Rafferty was ejected in the ninth for throwing at Jeremy Busch in an attempt to retaliate.
The RiverHawks continue their road trip Saturday in Florence at 6:05 p.m. Rockford returns to Marinelli Field on Tuesday, August 9th, to begin a three-game homestand against Kalamazoo.
