The first place Pirates improved their record to 6-2-0 and extended their winning streak to five games with wins this weekend against Philadelphia and Binghamton.

Today Nathan Marsters was nominated for the Koho/AHL Goalie of the month. Marsters is 5-0 in a Pirates uniform and ranks second among AHL goaltenders with a 1.60 GAA.

Ryan Shannon was nominated for the CCM Vector/AHL Rookie of the Month. This past weekend, Shannon extended his point streak to eight games with two goals on Friday and an assist on Saturday.

UPCOMING PROMOTIONS

Saturday, November 5th vs. Lowell - Saturday is "Hockey Night in Portland." Saturday night games feature a full night experience, including pre-game specials at local restaurants and special promotions at the game.

Saturday, November 12 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton - Gold medalist swimmer and Portland native, Ian Crocker will be at the game to meet fans and promote his new DVD "Unfiltered". Saturday will also be Salvation Army Kettle Kick-off Night.

Ticket plans are still available for the 2005-06 season at the Pirates office, located at 531 Congress Street in Portland. Ticket plans start at just $50. IN THE COMMUNITY

Last week the entire Pirates team took a tour of the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center. As part of the tour, the players met the patients and staff during the first of many trips for Pirates players to the hospital this season.

LAST WEEK

Friday, October 28th vs. Philadelphia (5-2 W)

Ryan Shannon and Dustin Penner scored twice as the Pirates posted a 5-2 victory over the defending Calder Cup Champions, the Philadelphia Phantoms.

Saturday, October 29th vs. Binghamton (3-2 W)

Pirates goaltender Nathan Marsters was sharp in goal with 27 saves, improving his record to 5-0.
