Pork Roll Push Past Senators in Series Opener

Trenton Thunder News Release
A two-out mini-rally in the fifth inning lifted the Thunder Pork Roll over the Harrisburg Senators, 5-3, on Friday night in front of a crowd of 5,362 at ARM & HAMMER Park.
With Harrisburg leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Hoy Jun Park drew a two-out walk for the Pork Roll (24-26, 62-54). Kyle Holder then reached first base safely when catcher Tres Barrera couldn't cleanly grip Holder's bunt in front of home plate. Ben Ruta and Chris Gittens seized the opportunity, delivering back-to-back RBI-singles to give the Pork Roll a 4-3 lead.
Isiah Gilliam had given the Pork Roll a 2-0 first-inning lead on a two-run homer to right-center off Tyler Mapes (5-6). But Rhett Wiseman cut the lead to one run with a solo homer off Rony Garcia (3-11) in the third inning, and Michael A. Taylor launched a go-ahead two-run homer off Garcia in the fifth.
Receiving sufficient run support, however, Garcia earned the win. The right-hander struck out six and walked only one over six innings before Andrew Bellatti and Daniel Alvarez combined for three innings of scoreless relief to finish the game.
Rashad Crawford went 0-for-4 for the Pork Roll, ending both his 16-game on-base streak and his nine-game hitting streak, both season-highs.
Your Thunder continue their homestand on Saturday at 7 p.m. against the Senators. RHP Michael King (0-1, 15.43) will start for the Thunder, and RHP Mario Sanchez (8-4, 3.14) will go for Harrisburg. Pregame coverage begins at 6:40 p.m. on 920 AM The Jersey or online at TrentonThunder.com/Broadcast.
