
Yard Goats 3-Run 8th Enough to Rally Past Ponies

Hartford, CT - The Hartford Yard Goats with three runs in the eighth rally past the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 3-1 in the series opener at Dunkin Donuts Park Friday night.
Down 1-0 in the eighth, and runners on the corners with 1 out, Luis Castro hit a sac fly to right off Joe Zanghi that tied the game at 1. Later in the frame, with the bases loaded and two out Chris Rabago hit a two-run single to centerfield that would prove to be the difference. Zanghi (3-3) took the loss and Yard Goats reliever Tate Scioneaux (2-1) got the win pitching a scoreless eighth. Ryan Gonzalez retired the Ponies in order for his fourth save of the year.
The Ponies had at least one hit in every inning but the ninth and finished with eleven for the game but left eight on base. Jason Krizan hit a long solo homer to right in the fifth that accounted for the Ponies lone run. It's Krizan's 11th homer of the year and he now has driven in 53 runs.
David Peterson had another strong outing in his second start back from the injured list. He allowed just one hit over five innings in the no-decision. Hartford starter Jack Wynkoop allowed only one run on nine hits over six issuing just one walk and striking out eight.
The Rumble Ponies continue their series with the Yard Goats on Saturday night with first pitch at 6:05PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies channel on TuneIn. The Horizons Federal Credit Union pregame show gets underway at 5:50PM. The Ponies send RHP Tommy Wilson to the hill against Hartford RHP Matt Dennis.
POSTGAME NOTES: Quinn Brodey and Barrett Barnes each had two hits...Binghamton has dropped 9 of their last 12.
