Lynchburg Hillcats News Release

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Carolina League announced that Adam Plutko has been earned Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on May 10.

Plutko made one start in that span, striking out a season-high eight hitters in 6.2 innings of shutout baseball against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. He scattered five hits and didn't allow any player to get past second base. The former College World Series MVP for the UCLA Bruins earned his second win of the season, despite a sparkling 1.23 ERA over six starts. The outing was the second time he didn't allow a run in a start this season. He previously held Carolina to two hits and no runs over six innings on April 28.

In his six starts, Plutko has been nothing short of magnificent. He hasn't allowed more than two runs in any contest so far, he's only allowed two once. He's surrendered five earned runs this season and two in his last three starts. He has five quality starts. The only game that didn't earn a quality start, he went five innings and allowed one run, one inning short of earning the "quality" tag. Finally, opponents are hitting .177 against him, including a .147 mark for righties.
