
Pitching Leads BlueClaws to Double-Header Sweep

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The BlueClaws swept a double-header from Hagerstown on Wednesday night, holding the Suns to two runs and winning 5-0 and 3-2.
The wins put the BlueClaws at 11-9 on the year, two-games over .500 for the first time. Lakewood, 5-2 on their current road trip, has won 10 of their last 15 games after a 1-4 start to the season. The Suns fall to 6-14.
Ramon Rosso threw six scoreless innings as the BlueClaws won the opener 5-0.
The BlueClaws got on the board in the first inning when Daniel Brito led off the game with a double. Dalton Guthrie bunted him to third and Brito scored on Nick Maton's SAC fly.
Josh Stephen singled in two runs in the second inning and Kevin Markham did the same in the fourth to put the BlueClaws up 5-0.
Rosso (1-1) allowed just two hits and struck out six, while walking two, to earn his first win of the year. The right-hander lowered his ERA to 1.25 with the victory.
Suns starter Jackson Tetreault (0-1) gave up five runs, four earned, in six innings to take the loss.
Lakewood needed an eighth inning to win game two, 3-2, as they picked up their third extra-inning win this season. Daniel Brito's RBI single put the BlueClaws ahead 3-2, driving in Yahir Gurrola(who began the inning at second base).
In the bottom of the inning, Kyle Dohy (1-0) got two strikeouts to end the game with the tying run at third base. Sam Held (1-1) took the loss.
The BlueClaws jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game two on a third inning solo home run from Kevin Markham and a fourth inning home run from Colby Fitch. It was Markham's first and Fitch's second of the season.
Hagerstown got on the board in the fifth when Brandon Bogetto took Will Stewart deep. Cole Freeman then led off the sixth with a solo home run to tie the game.
Stewart allowed two runs in six innings with six strikeouts and no walks. Suns starter Tomas Alastre also gave up two runs in six innings, while walking two and striking out two.
Fitch and Markham each had two hits for the BlueClaws in the win.
The teams finish their four-game series on Thursday night at 6:05 pm. RHP Spencer Howard (1-1) starts for Lakewood opposite LPH Jackson Stoeckinger (0-1).
