Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists entered Wednesday night's double-header against the Lexington Legends with a total of 14 Home Runs hit through their first 17 games. The Tourists blasted nine Home Runs over the two seven-inning contests and ended up with a split result.

Asheville lost the first game 12-2 but bounced back to win the second game by the same score, 12-2. In game one, the Tourists scored their two runs on a pair of solo Home Runs; one by Ramon Marcelino and one by Casey Golden.

The scoring in game two began with a Taylor Snyder two-run double in the second inning. Asheville's Bret Boswell and Golden then hit back-to-back Home Runs in the third. Two batter's later Marcelino left the yard with a two-run shot.

Golden wasn't finished. The Tourists outfielder hit his third Home Run of the day in the fourth inning to put Asheville in front 7-1. In the fifth, Chad Spanberger joined the party with a solo blast to right-center field. Boswell and Robbie Perkins both added solo Home Runs in the sixth.

The Tourists finished with seven Home Runs in game two of the double-header, one shy of tying the South Atlantic League record for Home Runs by one team in a game; and they did it in only six innings.

The two teams will play a nine-inning contest on Thursday night to determine the series. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
