April 25, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
The Kannapolis Intimidators (13-7) had their six-game win streak snapped Wednesday night against the Shorebirds, losing 3-0 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
With Parker Rigler (L, 1-1) getting the start for the Intimidators, Kirvin Moesquit walked to begin the first, followed by a Will Robertson strikeout. But with Robertson at the plate, Moesquit stole second base, and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Michael Hickman. Two pitches into Zach Jarrett's at-bat, the former Charlotte 49er hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Moequit for the first run of the game.
Cameron Bishop (W, 2-1) and Rigler pitched gems for their respective teams, as Bishop got the best of Rigler in the end, although both pitchers pitched six complete innings. Manager Justin Jirschele went to Yosmer Solorzano first out of the bullpen in the seventh, as the right-handed pitcher gave up a Trevor Craport one-out single on a line drive to right field, followed by a Ryan Ripken groundout. On a 0-1 pitch, Jean Carrillo singled on a line drive to left fielder Nolan Brown, scoring Craport from second to give the Shorebirds a 2-0 lead.
Fast forward one inning to the eighth, Jarrett connected on his sixth home run of the season on a 2-1 pitch delivered by Tyler Johnson, proving to be the last run for either team.
Laz Rivera and Johan Cruz both had multi-hit nights for Kannapolis but could not score any runs despite seven hits on the night.
The Intimidators and Shorebirds (13-7) will play the final game of their four-game series Thursday morning at 10:35 a.m.
