
Pigs, Chiefs Set for Doubleheader

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will take on the Syracuse Chiefs in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium. First pitch of game one is slated for 4:35 p.m. with game two to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
RHP Jake Thompson (0-2, 6.75) will be on the bump for the Pigs in the first game. Thompson was tagged with the loss on Thursday vs. Pawtucket after allowing five runs on six hits while walking three and fanning five over his three innings of work. Back on April 8 at Syracuse, the right-hander gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits to go along with two walks and five strikeouts over five innings of work.
RHP Paolo Espino (0-0, 3.60) gets the ball for Syracuse in game one. Espino got a no-decision on Thursday at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre when he gave up two runs on three hits while walking one and fanning five in 5.0 IP. In 2015, the Panama City, Panama native was 1-1 with a 6.30 ERA over two starts against the IronPigs.
RHP Reinier Roibal (0-0, 8.31) will make his second straight spot start for manager Dave Brundage's squad in game two. The Santiago, Cuba native surrendered three runs on five hits while fanning three over 3.0 IP in a no-decision on Saturday vs. Rochester.
LHP Aaron Laffey (1-0, 1.50) heads to the hill for the Chiefs opposite Roibal in game two. The veteran southpaw's last outing came on Saturday at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre when he gave up two hits while walking two and fanning two over three shutout innings to earn the win.
