Meyer had allowed two hits and stuck out five through five innings; PawSox lefty Scott departed with one out in the fifth, having allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out five. Jorge Marban relieved Scott on the mound.

The Wings had a good scoring chance in the fifth inning, after John Hicks doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch with two outs. Marban retired Darin Mastroianni to strand Hicks at third. .

In the sixth, a scary moment for the Wings was followed by the PawSox taking the lead. With Deven Marrero on first base after a single, Rusney Castillo lined an infield hit off Meyer's leg. Meyer was checked out by Wings trainer Larry Bennese, and stayed in the game. He got a flyout, but Sam Travis lined a two-run hit to put Pawtucket ahead 2-0. Travis was thrown out trying to turn a double into a triple, and Meyer struck out Justin Maxwell for the final out.

David Murphy worked Marban for a walk to open the bottom of the seventh, and after a popout Hicks picked up his second hit of the game. That put the tying runs on base with just one out. Marban (1-0) got a flyball out from Wilfredo Tovar, then walked Mastroianni to load the bases. Marban went to a full count on James Beresford, with Beresford fouling off five pitches before a lineout to second.

David Martinez took the mound to open the eighth inning, after Meyer (1-1) worked seven innings allowing five hits, two earned runs and two walks while striking out seven. Meyer threw 98 pitches, 61 for strikes.

Wesley Wright pitched the eighth and ninth innings for the PawSox, to record his second save.

Hicks and Buck Britton had two hits each, the only Red Wings batters to get a hit in the game.

NOTES: Alex Meyer had a 15.2 scoreless inning streak snapped when Pawtucket scored in the sixth inning Wednesday...The Wings went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
