Pickard to Attend Hockey Canada Goaltending Camp This Weekend

KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans' General Manager/Governor Bob Tory announced today that goaltender Chet Pickard will attend Hockey Canada's second annual Program of Excellence Goaltending Camp, to be held June 7-10 in Calgary, Alberta.

Pickard will join 12 other goaltenders, including five from the Western Hockey League, at the four-day long camp. The camp will include both on-ice and off-ice sessions. The instructors will provide both the participants and Hockey Canada with detailed reports at the conclusion of the camp. All of the on-ice sessions will be held at Norma Bush Arena in Calgary, AB and will be open to the public.

At the conclusion of the 2006-07 season, Pickard amassed a 17-10-0-1 record in 29 games played. He finished with a 2.85 goals against average, a 0.902 save percentage and one shutout in his second full season with the Tri-City Americans. The Winnipeg-native will become draft eligible at the conclusion of next season.

All 13 goaltenders were selected by Hockey Canada based on evaluations done by Corey Hirsch, Hockey Canada's Goaltending Consultant, and Head Scout Jim Hammett during the 2006-07 season and in consultation with coaches, general managers and team officials throughout the Canadian Hockey League and National Hockey League.
